D&G brings drawstrings and elastic waistbands out of the pool.

Obedient Sons falls flat with the scrubs look, in line with the show's theme of ill-fitting feminine gear.

Marc Jacobs goes with a grunge, worn-in theme for his show.

European style looks to be far ahead of American in terms of identity and sense of self. While the Europeans have a defined look that they adjust each season to set new trends and refine their image, the Americans appear to be reaching for an image to provide a foundation upon which to build. Moreover, American runway fashion doesn’t bring the everyday appeal that Europe has brought to the runway this season. For example, the morbid “scrubs” look from Obedient Sons just won’t resonate with many shoppers.
